World Peace and Understanding Luncheon Scheduled for February 20, 2009

The speaker for the 2009 World Peace and Understanding Luncheon is Richard Soudriette. He is President Emeritus of International Foundation for Election Systems. He has written a book titled 'Every Vote counts: The Role of Elections in Building Democracy'. He will speak on that subject at the luncheon on February 20, 2009 at the Antler's Hilton. All eight Pikes Peak Region Rotary clubs will be invited to attend this special event.
HURRICANE RELIEF
September 24, 2008
The Colorado Springs Rotary Club donated $500 to Rotary District 5910 which was hit very heavily by Hurricane Ike. Rotary District 5910 includes Texas City, Galveston, Port Arthur, Beaumont and Orange along the South and North to Palestine. All the clubs in this district were heavily affected by the hurricane. Colorado Springs Rotary is pleased to send Community Service Funds to Rotary District 5910 to support hurricane relief.
SNOWSPORTS FELLOWSHIP NEWS

Attention All Members!
Please join us on Wednesdays this Winter. As in the past, members of the Snowsports Fellowship will be Skiing or Snowboarding on Wednesdays at Copper Mountain. This Fellowship is open to all Club members. Your guests such as family members, friends, business clients, and Rotarians from other Clubs are welcome. There are no initiation fees or member dues associated with this Fellowship.
New this year. Starting on Jan 2nd, we will be going to the mountains every Wednesday through April 9th. As in the past, the first regular trip is scheduled on the Wednesday after Thanksgiving, Nov 28th. Thereafter, we will go on Dec 5th and 12th followed by a Holiday break until Jan 2nd.
If conditions permit, we will also have an eager beavers event on Wednesday, November 14th. Contact Jim Caro at 473-5362 if you are interested.
Trips will depart at 6:30 AM from the parking lot adjacent to Daylight Donuts, 3105 West Colorado Ave. As always, road and weather conditions are considered and may affect trip plans. Driver and pasasenger safety is the top consideration. Trips are intended to be enjoyable, not life and death challenges. Decisions to cancel or delay deparure are typically collaborative.
Reciprocal carpooling is the norm. New this year, passengers are asked to contribute $10.00 to the driver to help cover fuel expenses.
New this year, Matt Otten will be co-chairman of the Fellowsip along with Jim Caro.
